NOSH ROCKS and why food is amazing.

Editorial Note: We met Rowana about six months ago, and since then her journey hasn’t stopped. Like the majority of the visionaries that operate to build a better world, Rowana also managed to transform her challenges into strength. She is now helping more and more people with a new course, new knowledge, and new dreams about her project.

Q: What is your vision for a more sustainable world?

A: I believe in healthcare through positive lifestyle changes, including nutrient-rich, delicious food that can also bring the comfort of junk food, combined with the taste of gourmet and the health impact of superfoods. As Hippocrates said: 'Let Food Be Thy Medicine and Medicine be thy food'.

Q: What was your first step towards building a better world?

A: The first step started with myself. A friend died of a lifestyle disease at a relatively young age. This experience served as a “wake-up call”, making me realize that my personal loss was, in fact, a symptom of a much bigger issue: more and more people are suffering or dying of “old people’s disease” at younger ages, and the reality of this crisis is still very much buried under our noses. I first decided to introduce major lifestyle changes to myself (and my husband), leading me into a 6 plus year-long journey of discovery about food, self, and health.

Q: What challenges did you face?

A: I am challenging deep-seated beliefs about the nutritional impact of diet on our health and our general well-being. Additionally, I had to confront myself with the current dietary recommendations and the reality of our food chain. These are not being updated to reflect the emerging or in some cases, re-emerging scientific discoveries on the importance of nutrient-rich food to our health. We need to change the way we think about food, the way we choose food, the way we prepare food and of course the way we eat it.

Q: How did you overcome your biggest challenge(s)?

A: I am using the art of inspiration to reach those who are willing to listen and consequently make dietary and lifestyle changes. I rely on the 3 Rs of inspiration by Alan Deutschman; Relate, Reframe, and Repeat. Recently, during the lockdown, I started a new course on Rapid Transformation Hypnotherapy to support and motivate people to make a change. It is an ongoing challenge. And the recent crisis that we are all facing has highlighted how nutritional deficiencies are a significant risk factor for the severity of illnesses. So, even if I still feel that there is a strong resistance to accept dietary and lifestyle changes, I will keep on Relating, Reframing, and Repeating to inspire more and more people into building their ideal health.

Q: What is your biggest achievement so far?

A: I presented at the Swiss Alternative Medicine conference for Oncology. I also developed and ran 5 successful 8 week Body Transformation Courses with really positive feedback and testimonials.

Q: What keeps you moving forward?

A: The knowledge that what I am doing can help so many people find optimal health permanently, by eating delicious, nutrient-rich food. Also, Marisa Peer, from the Rapid Transformation Hypnotherapy is helping me to understand my own and other people's motivation and blocks. This awareness has inspired me to include a morning meditation practice.

Q: What are the biggest lessons you have learned?

A: Food is an absolutely amazing resource if used wisely. It has the power to energize us, to heal us, to help us feel, and be amazing. During this journey, I have also learned that you can't reach everyone, and one can just inspire those who are willing to listen.

Q: What’s next?

A: I would like to see NOSH ROCKS courses and workshops develop into a franchise, accepted by both the general public and by the medical profession as a way to support people to achieve better and permanent health.
