The Story of Kafayat OYEWO-OYELERE

Kafayat OYEWO-OYELERE, is the co-founder of the Golden Gleams Empowerment Foundation, a not-for-profit organization ensuring quality education, opportunities and economic empowerment of women and girls in Ogun State, Nigeria, by offering continuous education and promoting climate change initiatives with the launch of a tree planting practice.

Kafayat OYEWO-OYELERE explained the reason for her motto "Humanity first". Her mission is to help women and girls have access to equal opportunities for continuous learning and a path to economic empowerment and self-reliance through education.

Her first project was to visit a community in Ota to advocate for girls' enrollment in schools by facilitating their registration in a public facility. She learned many lessons and insights from her advocacy for continuous education for girls. Kafayat explained that not every girl out of school is there due to a lack of funds. Girls also need mentoring and counseling when deciding about different opportunities for their future career aspirations.

Her social entrepreneurship is made up of a broad range of experiences, starting from advocacy to parental consent and then counseling and mentoring. Building trust, devoting more time, and even becoming a volunteer counselor in a public facility have enabled her to reach out and gain access to a larger audience and develop trust in local communities.

Currently, the Golden Gleams Empowerment Foundation’s ambition is to build strong scholarship and advocacy programs by supporting out-of-school girls (12–17 years) from underserved communities in Ota, Ogun State, Nigeria.

You can support the Golden Gleams Empowerment Foundation by providing an introduction or referral to prospective donors, sponsoring partially or fully funded scholarships, or contributing to the production of training tools for emotional intelligence and teaching methodologies.
